Brighter Monday has compiled a list of the best 100 companies to work for in 2018, as voted by former and current employees. At the top of the list is Safaricom followed by the United Nations, KenGen, Google, KRA, Centum, Kenya Power, PwC, Unilever, and CocaCola.
Brighter Monday compiled the top 100 list by considering the attributes that matter the most to employees. These include:
- Pride: do employees feel a deep sense of belonging to recommend someone to their employer?
- Culture: are the employees engaged?
- Career growth: do these companies offer opportunities for career advancement?
- Diversity and inclusion: does the company embrace people from different cultures and backgrounds?
- Competitive pay package: how competitive are the salary packages?
Brighter Monday administered online surveys to more than 800,000 people from its employee database. The data collected was then analysed to create a report. Here is more data from that report:

The online survey also discovered that more men occupy senior positions while women occupy more entry-level and mid-level positions. Additionally, female respondents were more willing to leave their current workplaces than male respondents.
The level of job satisfaction in both male and female respondents was low but it was much lower in female employees compared to male employees. There was also a high percentage of respondents who were not willing to recommend their employer.
The survey findings indicated the high-pay bracket has more men than women while both men and women value good pay, the proximity of work to home, and job security when considering a potential employer.
