Safaricom HR Director Maria Shipiri Resigns

Safaricom’s Human Resource Director Maria Shipiri has tendered her resignation to pursue personal interests outside the company according to a notice sent to staff from the company’s CEO Bob Collymore.

“I wish to announce that Resources Director, Maria Shipiri has decided to leave Safaricom, effective January 31, 2017 in order to focus on developing her ambitions outside the company. I want to give my personal thanks to Maria for her positive support to the leadership team over the past year and wish her all the very best in her new endeavours,” said Collymore.

Mrs Maria’s last working day will be on 31st January 2017.  She has been with the company since July 2013 when she joined as the Head of Human Resources Business Partner, for Consumer and Enterprise Division.

In 2014, she went to work for Vodafone UK in the the same role of Human Resources Business Partner for Group Enterprises. She came back to Safaricom in 2016 to head the Human Resource Department.

Joe Ogutu, Safaricom’s Director Strategy & Innovation, will step into Marias’ role as Acting Resources Director until a replacement is named, Bob Collymore announced.
