    Safaricom Dominates NSE as Turnover Slides to KSh 398.6 Million


    Safaricom was the biggest mover when trading closed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) on Friday, 11th September 2020.

    The telecommunication firm moved 6.19 Million shares trading at between KSh 30.15 and KSh 29.30 resulting in a turnover of KSh 186.05 Million with 82% of the deals driven by foreign investors.

    Other top movers at the NSE were Equity with a volume of 3.43 million shares followed by Bamburi (1.32 Million), Home Africa(935,500) and KCB(499,900).

    Equity turnover declined to KSh 398.62 Million on a volume of 15.14 Million shares. The biggest gainer was Bamburi Cement whose share price was up 9.75% to KSh 21.95. It was followed by Housing Finance whose share price appreciated 8.68% to KSh 4.38, Britam was up 6.40% to KSh7.98, Longhorn Publishers rose 5.49% to KSh 4.80 and Nairobi Business Ventures whose share price rose 4.92% to KSh 0.64.

    The losing counters were led by Home Afrika whose share price declined 10% to KSh 0.36, followed by Kapchorua Tea, WPP ScanGroup, KenGen and Olympia Capital Holdings whose stock price slid 4.17% to KSh 2.30.

    The NSE 20 Share Index rose by 3.85 points from 1,871.84 to 1,875.69 while the NSE 25 Share index climbed up 18.85 points from 3,241.81 to 3,260.66. The NSE All-Share index rose marginally by 0.59 points from 140.28 to 140.87.

    Safaricom, Equity Bank and Bank of Kigali attracted the highest interest from foreign investors at 82%, 89% and 100% respectively.
