Safaricom Plc released its half year financial results for the year 2022/2023 on November 11, 2022, posting a 10 per cent decline in net profits to KES 33.5 billion on the heavy costs incurred during its entry into the Ethiopian market, a review of the Mobile Termination Rate (MTR) this year and the introduction of Excise Tax on SIM Cards.
During the release of the financial results, we sat down with Chief Executive Peter Ndegwa and CFO Dilip Pal to talk about the company’s planned roll out new M-Pesa products targeting to improve savings culture in Kenya.
In this interview, we also talked about the company’s Ethiopia operations and the structure of the planned investment by International Finance Corporation (IFC).
