Safaricom has appointed Govinda Kamath as Chief Finance Officer effective 31 July 2016. He will replace John Tombleson.
Govinda is currently the CFO of Vodacom Tanzania and seats on its Board. He also seats on the boards of Helios Towers Tanzania, M-Pesa Trust Ltd and Vodacom Foundation Ltd.
“He has over 19 years’ experience in both mature and emerging markets across Asia, Europe and Africa.”said Safaricom in a statement.
The current CFO Mr Tombleson will be returning to Vodafone New Zealand to take up a new opportunity as the Integration Director of the recently announced merger between Vodafone New Zealand and Sky New Zealand, Safaricom said.
“During Mr Tombleson’s tenure, he oversaw the company’s 16.3 per cent compound annual revenue growth, achieved net profit compounded annual growth rate of 31.8 per cent, and promoted market capital growth of 555 per cent from $1.1 billion to $7.1 billion,” Safaricom.
