Safaricom Plc has appointed two new non-executive directors to sit on its Board, with effect from 23rd August 2023. The appointment of Dr (Eng.) John Kipngetich Mosonik and Ms. Murielle Lorilloux to the Safaricom Board comes shortly after the exit of Michael Joseph, who has been for long the corporate face of the telco giant, having been CEO and Boars Chairman in a period spanning over 23 years.
Early this year, John Ngumi resigned as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Safaricom, barely five months after being appointed to this position.
Dr Mosonik, who joins the Safaricom Board of Directors, as a non-executive is a thoroughbred technocrat, having a rich experience having worked in various capacities both in the public and private sector, for over 35 years. He has a profile that stretches across industries, from Engineering to Telecom, and has served as the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Infrastructure and the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining.
He holds a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration (DBA)-Strategic Leadership from Northcentral University (USA) and a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Moi University.
Ms Murielle Lorilloux who is the Chief Strategy & Commercial Officer at Vodacom Group. Murielle has previously worked at Vodacom Group in the UK as an executive business director for Europe cluster markets and Vodacom business international. She has been CEO and President of the board of Vodafone Romania and MD of Vodacom DRC. She has also held senior positions with Orascom Telecom Algeria.
She has over 25 years of experience in General Management, commercial (B2C&B2B), Strategy, and Consulting experience in telecoms across Africa and European markets. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics (Management and Marketing) from the Paris Nonferee University and a Master’s degree in Business Management and Strategy from the ESCP Business School.
