    Safaricom Appoints New Directors to its Board

    Safaricom Plc has announced changes in its Board of Directors, with the Board appointing Ms Raisibe Kgomaraga Morathi as a Director, with effect from 1st November 2020. In August this year, Telecoms group, Vodacom, appointed Ms Raisibe Morathi as its Group Chief Financial Officer as well as executive director on its board.

    Prior to her appointment, Raisibe was the Group Chief Finance Officer (CFO) at Nedbank since 2009. She was also the patron of Nedbank’s Women’s Forum, demonstrating her commitment to the development of women and young people.

    Ms Raisibe Morathi is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and has completed an Advanced Management Programme (AMP) with INSEAD (France). Furthermore, she holds a Higher Diploma in Taxation (Wits University) and is currently pursuing a Masters in Philosophy (Corporate Strategy) at GIBS.

    The Board has also named Mr Dilip Pal as an alternate director to Safaricom’s CEO, Mr Peter Ndegwa following Mr Dilip’s appointment as Safaricom’s Chief Finance Officer (CFO) with effect from 1st November 2020.

    Prior to his appointment, Mr Dilip Pal served as the CFO at both DTAC, Thailand, and Grameenphone Bangladesh. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Goennka College of Commerce, alongside a Master’s in Commerce from Calcutta University.
