Rwanda’s national carrier, RwandAir has temporarily suspended flights to Zimbabwe, South Africa and Zambia, citing the new COVID-19 variants reported in the countries. The suspension took effect on 8th February 2021.
The airline reports that affected customers have the option of rebooking and flying at a later date at no additional cost, or requesting a refund from the airline.
Meanwhile, South Africa has announced plans to halt the use of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 jab in its vaccination programme, after trial data showed it gave minimal protection against the country’s coronavirus variant (the B.1.351 variant). Meanwhile, it will move forward with Pfizer/BioNTech and Johnson & Johnson’s deployment of vaccines.
