RwandAir, Rwanda’s national carrier, has expanded its fleet in August with two leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft, bolstering its capacity for short and medium-haul flights.
- •The additional aircraft now bring its total fleet to 15 aircraft including Airbus A330s, Boeing 737s and one De Havilland Canada DHC-8 Dash-8.
- •The airline expects the delivery of its second wide-body Airbus A330-200 in Q4 to enhance its long-haul operations.
- •In recent months, RwandAir has experienced technical disruptions across parts of its fleet, which reduced the number of aircraft available for operations.
“RwandAir is pleased to have resolved the challenges to our schedules over the last weeks, and to welcome our aircraft back into operation. Together with the arrival of new aircraft, the strengthened fleet will enable RwandAir to improve reliability, strengthen our schedules, and deliver an even better travel experience to all our passengers,” RwandAir CEO Yvonne Makolo said.
According to industry website Planespotters.net, the airline currently only has 11 planes in operation, with four of them parked. RwandAir plans to double its fleet by 2029.
