    Rwanda Launches Fintech Innovation Project

The government of Rwanda has partnered with Nigeria’s Co-creation Hub (CcHUB), Google and Mojaloop Foundation to launch the Fintech Innovation Project that seeks to accelerate Rwanda’s digital transformation.

As part of the initiative, CcHUB will be supporting early-stage fintechs and innovators with an incubation programme. There will be two cohorts of 15 startups over the course of the year, with a $10,000 grant to each selected company.

In addition to the support and access to Mojaloop and Google resources, the incubation programme will also create the opportunity for selected companies to receive further investment through the project partners’ investor networks.

Early this month, the Kigali International Financial Centre announced the debut of a $50 million Fund that will focus on FinTech companies with proven technology operating in Africa. The new fund is backed by MyGrowthFund Venture Partners and is expected to support capitalization of on FinTech companies operating in Africa.
