Kenya’s largest listed company, Safaricom, has appointed Mrs. Rose Ogega, managing director of Bloom Consultancy limited to its board of directors.
Her appointment as an independent non-executive director comes after Ms. Susan Mudhune, who held a similar role at the Telco, left after a nine year term, which ended in August 2018.
Mrs. Ogega has a wealth of experience in leadership roles having served in several boards in Kenya including; Barclays Bank Kenya, UAP Old Mutual Group, and at the National Economic and Social Council.
She led the Audit and Risk committee both at Barclays and UAP Old Mutual group and has also served as Board Chairperson at Old Mutual Investment services.
She began her career as an accountant at PWC Kenya in 1985; a role she held for two years before moving to DHL East Africa as a Financial Controller.
Mrs. Rose Ogega has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi and is a member of ICPAK, African Leadership Initiative and the Academy of Executive Coaches.
She brings to a total the number of women on the board of Safaricom to 4 out of the 11 members.
