According to data from the Uganda’s Central Bank (BOU), remittance inflows from Ugandans working and living in diaspora increased by 16 per cent in 2016 to defy the soft state of the global economy.
The Bank noted that during the year, personal transfers increased by over $1.2 billion (Ush 4.3 trillion) compared to $1 Billion (3.6 trillion) transferred in 2015.
