ADvTECH Group, Africa’s largest private education provider, has acquired Regis Runda Academy for KSh1.23 billion (about R172 million), seven years after it gained a foothold in Kenya by acquiring Makini Schools.
- •Regis Runda Academy opened in 2024 in Ridgeways, northeast of Nairobi, and now serves up to 2,000 students.
- •This move strengthens ADvTECH’s position in Kenya’s private school sector and expands its fast-growing Makini Schools network.
- •In 2018, ADvTECH Group and Scholé International partnered to acquire Makini Schools, accelerating the group’s growth in Kenya.
In November 2024, the group acquired Flipper International School in Ethiopia. In June 2025, it launched Rosebank International University College in Ghana.
Deal Structure and Strategic Impact
ADvTECH will rebrand Regis Runda Academy as Makini School Runda and will take over operations on 20 August 2025. The group has said it will deploy AI-powered digital learning tools and upgrade sports facilities to improve student outcomes. The transfer terms will keep all past debts and liabilities with the previous Regis owners, which gives the new operation a clean slate.
“We are delighted to increase our Makini Schools footprint in Kenya and to bring the brand’s compelling proposition to parents and students in one of the fastest developing regions of Nairobi.”
Geoff Whyte, ADvTECH Group CEO
The acquisition exemplifies the rapid consolidation underway in Kenya’s lucrative high-end private education sector. Regis will join a larger network with more resources, which brings stability and growth while Makini gains greater reach among Nairobi’s high-income families.
ADvTECH’s latest move strengthens its reputation as a key player in African education. The group combines investment scale, brand strength, and local expertise to raise learning standards across the continent.
