The East African Tea Trade Association (EATTA) has postponed its auctions until further notice, in a bid to curb spread of the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, primary and secondary auctions slated for 24th and 23rd March, respectively, have been halted.
Meanwhile, the Mombasa weekly auction held on 16th and 17th March, a total of 13.1 million kilograms were offered for sale, compared to 10.8 million kilograms for the same period last year. However, only 12 million kilograms were sold.
Nevertheless, this was an increase in sold kilograms, seeing that the previous auction recorded 10.8 million sold kilograms of tea.
