    The Nairobi Startup Week, is a week-long celebration of all things entrepreneurship, training sessions, and panels to adapt to the new normal.

    The Nairobi Startup week is an initiative of popular hip-hop musician Julius Owino, famously known as Juliani, known for his socially conscious lyrics, with themes that mainly focus on social, spiritual and political emancipation.

    The event which happened between 6th July - 10th July 2022, brought together entrepreneurs, start-ups, investors, the financial institutions, media, general public, musicians, academia among others. It happened at The Waterfront with the goal of creating a vibe around the start-up culture in Kenya. The week-long celebration of all things entrepreneurship offered a wealth of tips, training sessions, and panels about how to keep calm and carry on.

    The weekend culminated with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with opportunity for critical feedback.

    Sunday afternoon saw a thoughtful discussion on business ethics and building communities featuring Zee Gitahi, a community manager at Nairobi Garage, Innocent Magothe of Startinev and Confidence Staveley of CyberSafe Foundation. Watch the video below;

    Nairobi Startup Week Partners and Sponsors

    Kenyan startups raised $482 million venture funding in the first three months of 2022 according to a new report dubbed African-Focused Database, The Big Deal. This is more than what the country did in full year 2021 where startups raised $412 million, making Kenya among the top 5 African countries attracting significant funding. Despite this progress, challenges still exist that hinders continuous growth of startups and the Nairobi Startup Week sought to address these challenges.

    Nairobi Startup Week Pitch Session Hosted by Sam Gichuru

    On Sunday evening, teams presented their final pitches to Kidato Inc founder and CEO Sam Gichuru. Each team had five minutes to pitch their ideas, followed by a Q&A with the Sam. Watch the session below;
