Radisson Hotel Group’s expansion strategy has seen it add six hotels to its portfolio in Africa, with the new units expected to open in Mali, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia and two in South Africa.
“We aim to further accelerate our presence across the continent through conversions, especially as liquidity remains a critical challenge,” Reuters quoted Ramsay Rankoussi, Radisson’s vice president for development in Africa and Turkey.
The first of the new hotels will open in Bamako, Mali within the next six months with the last – a 258-room facility in Nigeria’s capital Abuja – expected to launch in 2024.
The new additions bring Radisson’s portfolio to nearly 100 hotels in 32 African markets.
Radisson Hotels is an international hotel chain with its headquarters in the United States and owned by Jin Jiang International Holdings Co. of P. R. China. A division of the Radisson Hotel Group, it operates the brands Radisson Blu, Radisson Red, Radisson Collection, Country Inn & Suites, and Park Inn by Radisson among others.
It has more than 1,100 hotels in destinations around the world.
