    Qatar eyes Kenyan agricultural exports
    LISTEN TO ARTICLE

Qatar is working to have agricultural produce from Kenya exported to the country. The Gulf nation enjoys close ties with Kenya, where both countries share agreements to cooperate in the tourism sector, education, and cultural events.

Speaking at an event attended by top government officials, diplomatic representatives, political and religious leaders, Qatar’s ambassador to Kenya, Jabr Al-Dosari, said that his country aims to access the vibrant agricultural sector in Kenya.

Kenya already exports tea, coffee, fruits, vegetables, and nuts to Middle Eastern countries, including Qatar. In 2017, the country’s exports to the Middle East amounted to KSh6.9 billion. Kenya strengthened its ties with Qatar in 2017 after the two countries agreed to work together for the benefit of both economies.

Kenyan officials at the event urged Qatar representatives to create a safe work environment for Kenyan workers in the Gulf country.
