The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 3rd, 4th, and 5th May 2021 had 12.4 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer increased from 12.2 million kilograms for the same period last year, and from 12 million kilograms offered during the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 10.9 million kilograms were sold, similar to the same period last year, and also during the previous sale.
The tea auction recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.82, compared to $1.85 during the previous sale held on 26th and 27th, and 28th April 2021, and $1.95 for the same period last year.
