The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on the 1st and 2nd September 2020 recorded 9.1 million kilograms offered for sale. The amount on offer recorded an increase from 8.3 million kilograms offered for sale during the same period last year, and 8.9 million kilograms during the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 7.9 million kilograms were sold compared to 7.6 million kilograms sold in the same period in 2019, and 7.4 million kilograms in the previous sale.
The tea auction sale recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.98, compared to $2.04 for both the same period last year, and during the previous sale, held on 24th, 25th and 26th August 2020.
