The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on the 28th, 29th and 30th September 2020 recorded 8.8 million kilograms offered for sale. The amount on offer recorded a decrease from 9.1 million kilograms offered for sale during the same period last year, and 9.7 million kilograms during the previous sale.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 7.9 million kilograms were sold compared to 8.3 million kilograms sold in the same period in 2019, and 8 million kilograms in the previous sale.
The tea auction sale recorded a decrease in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $1.90, compared to $2.14 for the same period last year, and a slight increase from the $1.89 during the previous sale, held on 21st, 22nd and 23rd September 2020.
