The weekly Mombasa Tea Auction held on 31st October, 1st and 2nd November 2022 had 13.2 million kilograms of tea offered for sale. The amount on offer increased when compared to the 13.1 million kilograms offered during the previous sale, and the 10 million kilograms offered during a similar period last year.
Of all the tea offered for sale, 9.9 million kilograms were sold, compared to 9.2 million kilograms during the previous sale, and 8.5 million kilograms during the same period last year.
The tea auction recorded another increase in prices, with a kilogram selling at an average price of $2.45, up from $2.41 recorded during the previous sale held on 24th, 25th and 26th October 2022, and from the $2.21 fetched during the same period last year.
The highest price however remains the $2.62 recorded in February, which was a four-year high.
