    Potential vaccine drives global markets higher

    US markets on Monday closed on the green following reports that Moderna’s early-stage trials of the COVID-19 vaccine had shown to be effective even as phase 3 trial is expected to start in July. Boosted by Airline stocks, the Dow Jones closed 3.85% higher, the S&P 500 rose to 3.15% to a 10 week high while the Nasdaq 100 gained 1.96%.

    Oil prices on Monday rose higher on increased demand optimism as countries across the world begin to ease coronavirus lockdowns which forced businesses to close. At 8.40 Eastern Time, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures rose by 10% while Brent rose by more than 6%.

    The Nikkei Asian Review on Monday reported that video conferencing App Zoom Video Communications will not allow individual users from China t sign up while those who already have a free account will not be allowed to hold meetings but are set to still be able to join them.
