Philip Odera has been appointed Board Chairman of Letshego Holdings Limited, a firm that is based in Gaborone and listed on the Botswana Stock Exchange.
Philip Odera replaces Enos Banda, who resigned as a director and Board Chairman of the Company on the 22nd of June 2022.
Letshego Board of Directors, at its meeting held on the same day, appointed Odera as Board Chairman. Odera has been a non-executive director of the Company since 2019.
Letshego has 11 subsidiaries across sub-Saharan Africa.
Philip is an experienced banker with over 30 years experience across Africa
Philip is a banker by profession and covered varied assignments across different cultures and geographies over the last 30 years, some of which include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Pakistan, Malaysia and Singapore.
Philip was born in Kisumu, Kenya and spent his entire pre-university schooling in Kenya before admission to St. Lawrence University in the United States for a degree in Economics, which he obtained in 1980. This was followed by an MBA in Finance from Suffolk University in Boston.
Philip commenced his banking career with Citibank Kenya before relocating to Citibank Congo as the Country Corporate Officer.
Odera is currently the Managing Director of Marr Consult.
Before this role, Philip advised organizations and entrepreneurs as Executive Partner at Titans Afrique – a consortium of experienced regional leaders who volunteer their skills to empower and upskill Africa’s emerging leaders.
He has participated in globally recognized leadership programs from global academic institutions, including Duke, Harvard, Cambridge University, and London Business School.
