P2P Lending Startup Pezesha wins Seedstars Kenya Competition

Pezesha is the winner of this year’s Kenyan chapter of the Seedstars Starup Competition. Pezesha is a digital financial marketplace facilitating credit scoring and affordable credit for the unbanked by connecting them with lenders for its innovative sustainable solution.

Pezesha was selected as the overall winner beating 12 other startups to the prize. The prize includes participating at the Seedstars Africa Summit and possibly attending the global Seedstars Summit, in Switzerland. The Summit is a weeklong training program, with the opportunity to meet the 65+ winners from other fast-growing economies, as well as investors and mentors from around the world. The final day of the Summit is dedicated to pitching in front of an audience of more than 1000 attendees, with the possibility of winning up to USD one million in equity investment and other prizes.

Workpay, with its employee management and payment solution using biometrics and mobile phones with automated salary payments to banks and mobile wallets, came second and Tanda, a fintech startup working to revolutionize access to goods and essential digital financial services like inventory on credit, airtime, utility payment, m-banking & insurance for MSME’s across Africa came third.

Seedstars World’s next stop is Accra at Standard Bank Incubator, to select the best startup in Ghana as it continues its world tour of fast-growing startup scenes in emerging markets.
