    Online Shopping: Pros and Cons

Online shopping is slowly but surely proving to be the one trend that almost everyone is adjusting to, whether for large scale or small scale purchases.

It seems quite an easy task from the outside: identify an item on an online store, pay, and have it delivered. Some have gone ahead to name it ‘The click to buy’ business, because the product you want is always a click away from you.

Taking a closer look at the pros and cons of online shopping might help one to decide whether the activity is suitable for them or not.

    Advantages

The stores are open all hours, on a daily basis. This means shoppers do not have to stress about the opening and closing hours of a store, which is an advantage for busy people.

It is possible to gauge the performance of a product on the site, based on the reviews below each item which are given by users who have already bought the item.

There are limitless options of the same product, making it easier to compare prices and value without necessarily having to leave the comfort of your chair.

    Disadvantages of Online Shopping

Sometimes, what is advertised isn’t what the consumer gets after purchase. You could get a lower quality product than the one advertised, and if the store doesn’t have a favorable return policy, it could mean loses on your end.

There is no freedom for negotiation of price. One has to buy at the product’s marked price.

Some online stores are not legitimate, and online shoppers have no way of judging the legitimacy. It is literally a risk taking venture.

Sometimes, delivery of an items takes more time than the customer anticipated. This may occur because the particular item needed to be shipped from a different location or country.

Other times, the shipping fee might be higher than the buying price, making the consumer fail to get value for their money.

At the end of the day, a shopper needs to weigh their options, to determine the option that works best for them, be it online shopping or making physical visits to the store.
