Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG), a leading South African Investment Firm, has appointed Anthony Mwithiga as Group Managing Director, Asset Management for East Africa.
Before this appointment, Mwithiga was the founding CEO of Absa Asset Management Kenya (a subsidiary of Absa Bank Kenya).
He will spearhead the overall leadership of OMIG’s asset management business in East Africa.
Mwithiga’s past experience includes being an advisory board member at Invest in Africa for seven years and was recently CEO of Absa Asset Management-Kenya for three years till March this year, where he led the setup and management of Absa Group’s first Asset Management business outside South Africa, in Nairobi Kenya.
He has also Chief Investment Officer & Head of Asset Management between Feb 2014 and January 2019, where he set up and managed NCBA’s asset and wealth management business by providing leadership in investment strategy formulation & active management of bespoke portfolios of Pension Funds, Unit Trusts, HNWIs and selecting Corporate entities within the Group’s investment banking subsidiary, NCBA Investment Bank.
He was also previously General Manager – UAP Investments Limited- responsible for the setup and management of the asset management business in terms of providing leadership in business operations, Board of Directors reporting, investment strategy formulation and business development.
Mwithiga has an MBA (Finance Option) from the University of Nairobi, a BA(Hons) in Maths and Economics from Kenyatta University and a Diploma in Banking(AKIB) from Kenya School of Monetary Studies.
He is also a member of Kenya’s Institute of Certified Financial and Investment Analysts (ICIFA). He has attended Nanyang Technological University and is a Certified Executive Coach from the Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC).
Mwithiga has also attended a senior management leadership program at the Strathmore University Business School, an advanced leadership program at the University of Pretoria, and Investment Performance Measurement Program at the Johannesburg School of Finance.
Mwithiga is also a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (The CISI).
