NTV to Exclusively Air NBA Games in Kenya Starting on March 8

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has signed a multiyear partnership deal with Nation Media Group (NMG) that makes NTV the official free to air partner of the NBA in Kenya starting on March 8, with the 70th All-Star Game. In the deal, the media house will air 25 live games throughout the second half of the 2020/2021 season, including Playoffs and Conference Calls, regular-season games and its weekly magazine show. This is the NBA’s first free-to-air broadcast partnership in Kenya.

Speaking on the partnership, NBA Africa CEO Victor Williams said the deal would make basketball more across the continent.

On the other hand, the NMG CEO believes that the partnership deal will boost NTV’s sports content offering.

We are excited to enter into this partnership with the NBA to deliver to Kenyans the beautiful game of basketball. This will be a great addition to the existing array of sports were our NTV audiences can access a world-class basketball viewing experience from the comfort of their houses.

Nation Media Group CEO Stephen Gitagama

News of the partnership comes when the company’s stock has sustained a rally following an earlier announcement of a 10% buyback program. According to data from Hisa App, the stock rose from a price of Ksh 14.60 on February 25, closing at highs of Ksh 25.35 on March 5.
