The NSI Group, the pan-African organization specializing in secured documents and electronic payment solutions, is preparing to establish a presence in Nairobi to fill the void created by De La Rue’s announcement of its intention to discontinue its Kenyan operations by March 31.
NSI Group’s Chairman, Richard Michel, pointed out the region’s potential for growth as the primary motivation for this move.
We have decided to commence operations in Nairobi, Kenya by April this year, based on the enormous potential for expanding our business in the area.

Michel noted that the company’s considerable customer base in Kenya is a positive sign of the company’s prospects, suggesting a promising beginning for the enterprise.
Having established a strong foundation in Kigali in 2003, the company’s new office is positioned to build on its success in the Kenyan market and beyond. NSI Group’s expansion across Africa, including subsidiaries in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, and Djibouti, has been gradual.
As per the company’s statement, NSI Group is dedicated to supporting the growth of electronic payments in Africa by delivering financial institutions, especially MFIs, with a comprehensive “plug and play” service and introducing a broad range of electronic payment products.
The company aims to reduce the turnaround time for card and chequebook production and keep the cost of secure documents affordable, particularly for individuals without bank accounts. Additionally, it offers a range of secure document options to institutions that fit their budget, ensuring the documents they issue are authentic.
Furthermore, the company strives to provide financial institutions with technological, organizational, procedural, and commercial solutions to speed up their digital transformation and offer modern mobile and electronic payment options.
The NSI Group’s development project includes expanding its operations in French-speaking countries in the western and central parts of the continent, such as Congo Brazzaville, Bénin Cameroon, Gabon, Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, Sénégal, and Togo.
The NSI Group is also committed to collaborating with its partners to meet the security requirements of valuable administrative documents in various countries.
The main task is to design and produce security prints for various public services of the State and the private sector, whose counterfeiting and falsification or alteration are made difficult by means of appropriate technological processes and secure storage.
