    NSE Weekly Turnover up 42.5% to KSh 3.37 Billion

    NSE Weekly Turnover up 42.5% to KSh 3.37 Billion

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded a 42.5% increase in turnover to KSh 3.37 Billion at the close of the week ending 25th June 2021 from the previous week’s KSh 2.67 Billion.

    The volume of shares traded also rose 67.49% to close the week with 112.12 million shares exchanging hands compared to 66.94 million sold the previous week.

    Safaricom was the most active counter with shares valued at KSh 1.7 Billion transacted, making up 52.02% of the week’s traded value. Its shape price, however, declined to KSh 40.75 from KSh 41.25, a 1.21% fall.

    The Banking Sector was second with shares worth KSh1.16 billion transacted, accounting for 34.66% of the week’s traded value.

    Equity Group Holdings Plc share price was up 4.13% to KSh.46.60, up from KSh44.75 registered the previous week with shares worth KSh533 Million transacted.

    KCB Group edged up 3.06% to KSh.43.85 on a volume of 10.5 Million shares valued at Kes.458 million. Co-operative Bank moved 7 million shares valued at KSh 88.8 Million and closed at KSh13.00 per share.

    The Manufacturing & Allied Sector had shares worth KSh277 Million transacted, representing 8.25% of the week’s traded value.

    East African Breweries Plc closed the week 3.97% lower to KSh181.50 on a volume of 1.1 Million shares valued at KSh 209 Million. Carbacid Plc was up 2.17% to KSh11.75 and moved 4 million shares valued at KSh 47 Million.

    NSE top price gainer and loser

    Nairobi Business Ventures was the week’s top gainer, adding 22.65% in investor wealth to close the week at KSh 8.34 per share, while Transcentury Plc was the week’s top loser, with the shares closing the week at KSh 1.34 per share, an 11.26% decline from previous week’s close of KSh1.51 per share.

    The NSE derivatives market closed the week with a total of 164 contracts valued at KSh 6.58 Million transacted, compared to 300 contracts valued at KSh 10.4 Million posted the preceding week.

    Trading on the secondary bond market was up 52.0%, with KSh 33.06 Billion worth of bonds traded against KSh 21.75 billion worth of bonds transacted the previous week.

    The benchmark all share index shed 0.44% week on week to close the week at 171.62 points.

    The NSE 20 share index shed 2.10 points or 0.11% to close the week at 1,899.11 points, while the NSE 25 share index gained 1.93 points or 0.05% to close the week at 3,749.19.
