The NSE and AIB-AXYSAfrica have now closed the flagship University Stock Market Challenge and given out awards.
The NSE has partnered with AIB-AXYSAfrica, headquartered in Mauritius with subsidiaries in UAE, Hong Kong and Switzerland.
The group has more than two decades of specialist experience in Asset and Wealth Management, Corporate Finance, Brokerage, Corporate Services, Asset financing & Deposit-taking.
This NSE&AIB-AXYS Africa Ltd partnership was created out of the need to increase financial literacy amongst youth and their knowledge of capital markets.
In the 3-month challenge, students received free training from experts, continuous guidance and the chance to practice their newly gained skills in a virtual market through the Nairobi bourse virtual academy.
The winners of this challenge were Agnes Mbuvi with 359% growth in investment, Looqmann Mohammed with 321% and Kennedy Mwangi with 296% growth, respectively.
“We acknowledge the need for education on capital markets through platforms like these and encourage more students to be a part of this,” said Geoffrey Odundo- NSE CEO.
“There is money to be made for everyone if we focus and use the right strategies,” said AIB-AXYSAfrica & NSE Vice-chair Paul Wachira Mwai.
The virtual equities trading competition at the pioneer 2021 NSE-AIB University Stock Market Challenge (USMC) came to an end on the 28th of January 2022.
Seven students from Strathmore University Business School (SBS) and Strathmore Institute of Mathematical Sciences (SIMS) took the top 10 positions.
