    NSE Daily Equity Turnover rises 240% to KSh 1.7 Billion

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover rises 240% to KSh 1.7 Billion

    Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Daily Equity Turnover increased to KSh 1.656 Billion when trading ended this Tuesday, with the number of shares traded rising to 23,425,900.

    This data is compared to a turnover of KSh 487.6 Million on a volume of 10.3 Million shares that exchanged hands at the close of the previous trading session.

    The number of deals increased to 1,526 on Tuesday compared to 1,193 deals on Monday.

    There was a 128% improvement in volumes and 32% improvement in deals this Tuesday as investors react to a bullish Safaricom and the H1 earnings period in the banking sector.

    NSE INDICES

    The NSE All-Share Index was up 4.50 points to 187.46, while the NSE 20 Share Index was up 23.03 points to 1996.26. The NSE 25 Share Index was up 99.85 points to 4075.27.

    Safaricom touched an all-time high of 45.25 before declining to close at KSh 44.90 with 11.97 Million shares worth KSh 537 Million transacted, representing 32.46% of the day’s traded value.

    It was followed by EABL, which moved 5.07 Million shares valued at KSh 911Million changing hands between KSh179.00 and KSh181.00.

    KCB was the third top mover with a volume of 1.08 Million shares valued at KSh53.9Million at between KSh48.60 and KSh50.75, followed by Co-operative Bank of Kenya, which moved 1.00 Million shares.

    Equity Group moved 958,800 shares worth KSh 50.8 Million and touched a 12 month high of KSh 53.50 before easing down to close at KSh 53.00.

    Eaagads Limited was the day’s top price gainer, its share price rising 9.73% to KSh 12.40, followed by Stanbic Holdings, which was up 9.30% to KSh 94 per share, Equity Group, which gained 3.92% to KSh 53.00, Sameer Africa, which gained 3.795 to KSh 3.29, KCB whose share price appreciated by 3.74% to KSh 49.90 and NSE which gained 3.17% to KSh 9.10.

    The worst performers were led by Standard Group Limited, which was down 10% to end the day at KSh 18.00.

    It was followed by Nairobi Business Ventures, which declined by 4.73% to KSh 5.24; Umeme Limited, which was down 4.37% to KSh 6.56, Sanlam Kenya, which fell 3.48% to KSh 11.10, Housing Finance Company of Kenya which was down 2.50% to close the day at KSh 3.90 per share and Britam whose share price declined 3.17% to KSh 8.04.

    Activity in the Secondary Bonds Market was up to a turnover of KSh 5 Billion in 70 deals on Tuesday compared to a turnover of KSh 1.4 Billion in 52 deals when the bourse closed this Monday.
