    NSE Turnover Triples to KSh 640 Million

    NSE Turnover Triples to KSh 640 Million

    Market turnover rose to KSh 640.5 million from the previous session’s KSh 188.5 million, the number of shares traded stood at 18.6 million against 5.8 million shares traded yesterday.

    While the banking counters accounted for the largest traded values at the bourse, Safaricom was the single largest mover.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh 375 million transacted which accounted for 58.57per cent of the day’s traded value.

    Equity Group Holdings actively moved 4.48 million shares valued at KSh 241.7 million at between KSh 53.00 and KSh 54.00.

    Diamond Trust Bank up 1.59 per cent to KSh 112.00 moved 451,000 shares worth KSh 50.5 million. Barclays Bank moved 2.79 million shares worth KSh 37 million and closed at KSh 13.30.

    KCB Group moved 649,000 shares at between KSh 52.50 and KSh 53.75 while Co-operative Bank moved 142,600 shares at between KSh 16.70 and KSh 16.40. I&M traded the least number of shares, at 1000, of between KSh 56.00 and KSh 56.25. BK Group counter remained quiet while Standard Chartered Bank traded 4,100 shares at between KSh 200 and KSh 205.

    NCBA traded a volume of 196,000 shares at between KSh 37.50 and KSh 35.50.

    The Investment sector had shares worth 1.8 million traded & accounted for 0.29 per cent of the day’s traded value.

    Centum moved 60,000 shares worth KSh 1.8 million at a fairly stable price of KSh 29.70.

    The Manufacturing & Allied sector had shares worth 8.88 million traded & accounted for 1.39per cent of the day’s traded value. E.A Breweries moved 43,000 shares valued at KSh 8.56 million at between KSh 196.00 and KSh 212.00.

    Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover with 7.75 million shares valued at KSh 244.5 million changing hands at between KSh 31.30 and KSh 31.70; this represented 38.16 per cent of the day’s traded value.

    The NSE 20 share Index was down 34.76 points to stand at 2671.62. All Share Index NASI edged down 0.35 points to stand at 166.65. The NSE 25 Share index shed 20.59 points to settle at 4106.34.

    On the other hand, the bond market had bonds worth KSh 803 million transacted.
