    NSE Daily Equity Turnover rises 67.1% to KSh 662.3 Million

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover rises 67.1% to KSh 662.3 Million

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded improved activity, with the number of shares traded rising to 21.7 Million in 1,428 deals this Thursday, resulting in an Equity Turnover of KSh 662.3 Million.

    Today’s data is compared to a turnover of KSh 396.4 Million on a volume of 11 Million shares that exchanged hands in 1,327 deals when trading ended at the bourse Wednesday.

    NSE INDICES

    The NSE All-Share Index(NASI) was up 0.18 points to close at 187.40, while the NSE 20 Share Index climbed 6.68 points to close at 2038.77.

    The NSE 25 Share Index was up 20.52 points to close at 4092.00.

    The NSE Market Capitalization increased to KSh 2,920,467 Billion when the bourse closed this Thursday compared to KSh 2,917,775 Billion at the end of the previous trading session.

    Uchumi was the day’s top price gainer, its share price rising by 8.33% to KSh 0.26.

    The retailer was followed by BOC Kenya, which was up 6.45% to close at KSh 66.00, CIC Group, which gained 6.23% to KSh 2.90, NSE, which climbed 4.64% to KSh 9.92 and Standard Group, whose share price went up 3.97% to KSh 18.35.

    The worst performing counter was Express Kenya which was down 7.97% to KSh 3.81, followed by Sameer Africa, which declined by 7.89% to KSh 3.50, WPP ScanGroup, which fell 6.96% to KSh 3.61, Olympia Capital which declined 5% to KSh 2.09 and Sasini, whose price decreased by 4.28% to KSh 19.00.

    The biggest mover was Safaricom with a volume of 8.27 Million, followed by ABSA(5.95 Million), Equity Group( 2.65 Million), KenGen( 1.58 Million) and WPP ScanGroup(1.28 Million).

    Activity in the secondary bonds market declined, with bond turnover falling to KSh 1.2 Billion from 60 deals compared to a turnover of KSh 2.1 Billion in 72 deals this Wednesday.

    The Derivatives market also remained subdued and had nine contracts worth KSh 255,950.00 compared to 20 contracts worth KSh 735,850.00 concluded at the previous trading session.
