    NSE Turnover Rises to KSh 427 Million

    NSE Turnover Rises to KSh 427 Million

    Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange today rose by 73% to Ksh 427.4 million. This is in comparison to Wednesday’s turnover of Ksh 247 million. A total of 15.06 million shares were exchanged at the bourse in 1,092 deals.

    Safaricom emerged as the top mover of the day with 11.15 million shares traded valued at Ksh 313.57 million. Safaricom was trading at an average price of Ksh 28.15 per share.

    Absa realized a turnover of Ksh 12.06 million trading at an average price of Ksh 9.02 per share. The bank closed the day with a 3.43% end of day share price depreciation. A total of 1.34 million Absa shares were traded at the end of trading.

    East African Breweries saw a turnover of Ksh 67.7 million in 39 deals. EABL was trading between Ksh 150 and Ksh 160. The brewer ended the day with a 3.73% share price depreciation to close at Ksh 155 per share. EABL has recorded a 39% decline in profits to KSh7 billion for the year ended 30 June 2020 compared to KSh 11.5 billion recorded in 2019.

    Co-operative Bank recorded a turnover of Ksh 3.83 million trading at an average of Ksh 10.50 per share. Co-operative ended the day with a 1.87% share price depreciation. Equity Group moved over 300,000 shares worth Ksh 9.79 million in 49 deals. Equity stock was trading at an average of Ksh 32.55 ending the day with a 0.31% share price depreciation.

    Top gainer of the day was Trans-Century with an 8.28% share price appreciation to close at Ksh 1.83 per share. Other gainers of the day were: Longhorn Publishers(7.56%), East African Cables(6.79%), Standard Group(4.55%) and Flame Tree Group(4.20%). Standard Group closed the day at Ksh 23.00 per share.

    BK Group saw a 6.39% end of day share price depreciation to close at Ksh 16.85 per share. Other losers of the day include: Carbacid Investments(5.95%), I&M Holdings(5.62%), EABL(3.73%) and ABSA(3.43%). I&M closed the day at Ksh 46.20 per share.

    The NSE All share Index shed off 1.25 points to close at 133.23. The NSE 20 share index declined 7.18 points to close at 1804.10 while the NSE 25 declined 41.72 points to close at 3059.56
