    NSE Turnover Rises Slightly to KSh 548 Million

    NSE Turnover Rises Slightly to KSh 548 Million

    The NSE today traded a total of 11.33 million shares in 804 deals. Safaricom recorded the highest volume of the day with 6.84 million shares traded. Safaricom saw a turnover of KSh 184.72 million trading between KSh 26.80 and KSh 27.30

    Kengen moved 1.36 million shares valued at KSh 8.04 million to close at KSh 5.90 per share. BAT Kenya plc moved 1 million shares valued at KSh 310.12 million. BAT was trading at KSh 310 per share. Equity Group and Trans-Century close the top 5 gainers with 457,100 and 263,700 shares traded respectively.

    Top gainer of the day was Kakuzi with an end of day share appreciation of 9.76% to close at KSh 360 per share. Sasini Tea gained 6.75% to close at KSh 17.40 per share. Williamson Tea gained 4.56% exchanging shares worth 1.09 million at the end of trading.

    Directors of Williamson Tea recently recommended a final dividend of KSh 20 per share be paid to members on the register at the close of business on 18th August 2020. Other gainers of the day were Eveready(3.88%) and NCBA(3.57%). NCBA closed at KSh 26.10 per share.

    Nation Media Group saw an end of day share price depreciation closing at KSh 12.10 per share. NMG moved shares worth KSh 1.89 million in 46 deals. Stanlib Fahari Income-REIT closed 4.14% lower than Friday’s close realizing a turnover of KSh 157,922. Jubilee Holdings shed off 4% of its share price value to close at KSh 240.00. Other losers of the day were Sameer Africa (3.76%) and Express Ltd(2.91%).

    In the Banking sector, only NCBA saw an end of day share price appreciation. Equity Group closed at KSh 33.85 realizing a turnover of KSh 15.48 million. KCB Group closed at KSh 35.05. The bank’s turnover at the end of trading was KSh 1.92 million. ABSA closed the day at KSh 9.18. ABSA turnover for the day was KSh 1.78 million

    The NSE All share index shed off 0.03 points to close at 132.22. The NSE 20 share index gained 0.27 points to close at 1909.63 while the NSE 25 declined 1.51 points to close at 3105.80
