    NSE Turnover Rises Sharply to KSh 707.58 Million

    NSE Turnover Rises Sharply to KSh 707.58 Million

    Equity turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) rose sharply to KSh 707.58 Million at the close of trading this Friday. This is on a volume of 38.55 Million shares transacted in 967 deals, compared to a turnover of KSh 204.37 Million posted on Thursday.

    The NSE All Share Index rose by 0.19 points from 131.56 to 131.75 while the NSE 25 Share Index declined by 4.32 points or 0.14% to 3013.33 from 3017.65 posted on Thursday.

    The NSE 20 Share Index declined by 10.76 points or 0.62% to 1723.96 from 1734.72.

    The biggest movers at the bourse were Safaricom, which traded a volume of 11.65 Million shares followed by Kenya Re(5.37 Million), NSE( 4.44 Million), NCBA Group(3.53 Million) and Equity Group(2.40 Million).

    The top gainer was Nairobi Business Ventures, whose share price rose 10% to KSh 0.66 followed by Eaagads Limited with its share price appreciating 10 % to KSh 11.00. Other top gainers were CIC whose share price rose 5.53% to KSh 2.10 Housing Finance shares price increased by 3.56% to KSh 4.07 while Jubilee share price rose by 3.16% to KSh 228.25.

    The Biggest loser was NCBA Group whose share price depreciated by 8.18% to KSh 20.20. Others were Home Africa with its share price falling 4.65% to KSh 0.41, Williamson Tea- whose share price dropped 3.02% to KSh 128.25. Sasini had its share price fall 2.37% to KSh 18.55 while EABL share price slide 2.11% to KSh 151.00 Friday.

    The derivatives market had no contracts concluded during today’s trading session.

    The secondary bond market recorded a rise in activity this Friday with bonds worth Ksh 845.87 Million transacted in 108 deals. This is compared to KSh 524.48 Million achieved in 85 deals during Thursday’s trading session.
