    NSE Turnover rises 42% to Ksh. 359.07 Million

    NSE Turnover rises 42% to Ksh. 359.07 Million

    Turnover on Tuesday at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, rose 42% to Ksh. 359.07 Million. This is in comparison to Monday’s Ksh. 253 Million. Investors exchanged 15.54 Million shares in 1,229 deals.

    Safaricom was the top mover of the day with 8.32 Million shares traded. The day’s turnover for Safaricom was Ksh. 238.34 Million. The telecommunication giant holds a market capitalization of Ksh. 1.15 Trillion

    Top gainer of the day was Kenya Airways. KQ share price appreciated 9.70% to close at Ksh. 3.28. A total of 1.33 million KQ shares were exchanged resulting in a turnover of Ksh. 4.35 million. Kenya Airways has announced plans to resume domestic flights by 8th July and international flights by 14th July 2020.

    Other gainers of the day were Liberty Kenya(6.93%), Eveready(4.81%), Flame Tree Group(4.67%) and Uchumi(3.33%). Umeme Ltd closed the day with 2.00% share price appreciation.

    East Africa Cables was the top loser of the day with a 5.45% share price depreciation. East African Breweries lost 4.55 of its share price value closing at Ksh. 163. A total of 263,500 EABL shares were exchanged resulting in a turnover of Ksh. 42.85 million. EABL stock closed on Monday at Ksh. 170.25 per share.

    KPLC moved 1.93 Million shares valued at Ksh. 3.70 Million. KPLC closed the day at Ksh. 1.92, having lost 3.03% of its share price value. Kenya Power’s total market capitalization is Ksh. 3.75 Billion.

    Other losers of the day were Home Afrika(4.65%), Kenya Re-Insurance(3.60%) and Carbacid Investments(3.17%). ABSA stock fell 0.99% to close at Ksh. 10.00 per share having realized a day’s turnover of Ksh. 1.19 million.

    The NSE All share index declined by 1.11 points to close at 137.68. The NSE 20 share index fell by 10.14 points to close at 1942.12. The NSE 25 share index also fell 29.82 points to close at 3217.11
