    NSE Turnover Rises 219% to KSh 475.9 Million

    NSE Turnover Rises 219% to KSh 475.9 Million

    Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) rose significantly to KSh 475.86 Million compared to KSh 149.3 Million this Monday, a rise of 218.7%.

    This Tuesday, the volume of shares traded was 15.24 Million compared to 7.07 Million shares traded in 856 deals when trading closed on Monday.

    The top price gainer was Olympia Capital Holdings, whose share price was up 10% to KSh 2.20. It was followed by Liberty Holdings, whose price rose 8.70% to KSh 7.50 from the previous KSh 6.90.

    Home Afrika gained 7.50% to KSh 0.43 from the previous KSh 0.40 on a volume of 15,900 and turnover of KSh 6,837.00.

    East African Portland Cement gained 7.32% to close at KSh 11.00 while Nairobi Business Ventures had its share price edge up 4.94% to KSh 4.46.

    The worst performer was Car and General, which fell 10% to KSh 22.50. It was followed by Britam, which declined by 3.83% to KSh 7.04, Uchumi, which lost 3.33% of its share value to close the day at KSh 0.29, Williamson Tea Kenya, which declined by 2.78% to KSh 131.25 and Eaagads Limited, which lost 2.765 to close the day trading at KSh 12.35.

    The biggest movers were Safaricom with a volume of 4.5 Million, followed by Equity Group (2.5 Million), KCB Group(1.88 Million), I&M Holdings(1.87 Million), and KPLC(1.23 Million). Safaricom share price touched a new record high of Ksh 34 during the intra-day trading session.

    The NSE All-Share Index was up by 1.54 points to settle at 149.06 from the previous 147.52, while the NSE 25 Share Index rose by 23.13 points to 3315.26. The NSE 20Share Index was up 1.18 points to 1812.00.

    The derivatives market had five contracts worth KSh185,000 transacted in today’s trading session. Five KCB contracts worth KSh 185,000 expiring on 18th March 2021 were concluded at KSh37.00. KCB closed at KSh 36.90 on the spot market this Tuesday.

    Bonds worth KSh6.94 billion were traded in 112 deals during today’s session compared to the KSh3.72 Billion achieved in 72 deals during the prior trading period.
