    NSE Equity Turnover Rises 181% to KSh 405.1 Million

    NSE Equity Turnover Rises 181% to KSh 405.1 Million

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) recorded an Equity turnover of KSh 405.1 Million when trading ended at the bourse this Thursday with 14.7 Million shares changing hands compared to a turnover of KSh 147.3 Million and a volume of 5.8 Million shares traded on Wednesday.

    The NSE All-Share Index(NASI) was up 0.52 points to close at 175.89, while the NSE 20 Share Index climbed 1.37 points to close at 1974.95. The NSE 25 Share Index was also up 7.32 points to end the day at 3871.97.

    Top price gainers at the bourse were led by BK Group, which was up 7.06% to KSh 31.85, followed by BOC Kenya gained 4.03% to KSh 64.50, Uchumi whose price was up 4.00% to KSh 0.26, Kenya Re-insurance, which was up 3.08% to KSh 2.68 and Eaagads which gained 2.50% to close at KSh 12.30.

    The worst performing counters were led by Sameer Africa, which was down 6.53% to KSh 3.15, TransCentury which lost 5.19% to close at KSh 1.28, Sanlam Kenya, whose share price declined 5.17% to KSh 11.00, Nairobi Business Ventures, which was down 3.63% to KSh 6.90 and Home Africa which declined by 2.44% to end the day at KSh 0.40.

    Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover with a volume of 7.34 Million shares, followed by Kenya Re-Insurance(3.65 Million), KPLC( 2.11 Million), KCB(366,300) and Standard Chartered Bank Kenya(277,400).

    Activity in the secondary bonds market improved after it recorded a turnover of KSh 6.8 Billion in 165 deals compared to KSh 4.7 Billion in 132 deals this Wednesday.

    There was a total of 962 Equity deals this Thursday compared to 946 deals on Wednesday, while I-REIT turnover was KSh 70,046 compared to the previous day’s KSh 5,528.

    The Derivatives market had 18 contracts worth KSh 810,430 compared to 18 contracts worth KSh 754,550 transacted this Wednesday.

    On the list of corporate actions is BAT Kenya Plc, which will close its books on 12th August 2021 and pay an interim dividend of KSh 3.50 per share.

    Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation closed its books on 30th June 2021 and will pay a first and final dividend of KSh 0.20 on 13th August 2021.

    Safaricom, which closed its books on 30th July 2021, will pay a final dividend of KSh 0.92 on 13th August 2021.

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE)plc closed its books on 4th June 2021 and will make a first and final dividend payment of KSh 0.53 per share on 3oth August 2021.
