    NSE Turnover Retreats to KSh 254.7 Million

    NSE Turnover Retreats to KSh 254.7 Million

    Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) fell significantly to KSh 254.69 Million at the end of today’s trading session. This was on a volume of 9.39 Million shares transacted in 1,056 deals.

    The biggest mover was Safaricom which moved 2.29 Million shares in 125 deals with its share price oscillating between a high of KSh 29.95 and a low of KSh 29.50.

    Other movers were Co-operative Bank (1.79 Million shares), I&M Holdings(1.27 Million), KCB(774,300) and Kenya Re(560,100).

    The Banking Sector dominated activity at the bourse, transacting shares worth KSh136Million which accounted for 53.77% of the day’s traded value. I&M Holdings actively moved 1.2Million shares valued at KSh54.8Million at between KSh43.00 and KSh 45.50. KCB Group was up 2.57% to KSh 37.95 and moved 774,000 shares worth KSh 29 Million.

    Nairobi Business Ventures was the biggest gainer with its share price edging up 9.09% to 60 cents, StanChart Bank Kenya up 5.99% to KSh 163.75, Sanlam Kenya up 5.37% to KSh 12.75, WPP Scangroup share price rose 4.56% to KSh 6.42 with East African Cables share price rising 4.47% to KSh 1.87.

    The worst performing stock was I&M Holdings which saw its prices plunge 6.52% to KSh 43.00 at the end of trading this Tuesday.

    Others in the losers club include Diamond Trust Bank whose share price fell 4.04% to KSh 65.25 as well as Uchumi, BOC Kenya and Home Africa, whose shares declined by 3.33%, 2.61% and 2.33% respectively.

    The NSE 20 Share Index gained 14.89 points to 1809.74 from the previous 1794.85. The NSE 25 Share index rose by 20.25 points or 0.63% from 3,223.79 to 3,244.04. The NSE All-Share Index climbed 0.58 points or 0.42% from 139.68 when the bourse closed this Monday to 140.26 on Tuesday.

    The derivatives market had 7 contracts concluded on Tuesday 1st, September 2020 valued at KSh 240,300. These were the first contracts concluded on the derivatives market this week.

    The secondary bond market recorded a decline in activity during today’s session with bonds worth KSh 6.23 billion transacted in 142 deals. This is compared to the KSh 8.47 billion achieved in 151 deals during Monday’s trading session.
