Kenya’s stock market on Monday traded a volume of 5 Million shares resulting in the counter recording a turnover of KSh 81 Million, its lowest level in 2020. This is compared to Friday’s (11th September) turnover of KSh 398.6 Million.
The Banking sector moved shares worth Kes.51M which accounted for 62.96% of the day’s traded value.
Equity Group Holdings moved 493,000 shares valued at Kes.18M at between Kes.36.00 and Kes.37.00. KCB
Group moved 423,000 shares worth Kes.16M and closed at Kes.38.00. Co-operative Bank remained steady at
Kes.11.65 with shares worth Kes.10.9M transacted.
According to dealers who spoke to this publication, the low turnover was as a result of a system glitch that afftected submission of orders to the trading during the day’s session.
Safaricom moved 378,000 shares worth Kes.11M at a fairly stable price of Kes.29.95; this represented 13.90%
of the day’s traded value.
The NSE 20 Share Index rose 3.85 points from 1871.84 to 1875.69 while the NSE 25 Share Index increased by 18.85 points from 3241.81 to 3260.66. The NSE All-Share index rose 0.59 points from 140.28 to 140.78.
