    NSE Equity Turnover Drops 50% to KSh 214.8 Million

    NSE Equity Turnover Drops 50% to KSh 214.8 Million

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded an equity turnover of KSh 214,849,537 when trading ended at the bourse this Wednesday, 27th July 2021. This was on a volume of 9.2 Million shares traded in 1077 deals.

    On Tuesday, Nairobi bourse had a turnover of KSh 427. 3 Million and a volume of 12.2 Million shares transacted in 1279 deals when trading ended at the bourse.

    Wednesday’s data shows a 25% fall in volumes and a 17% decline in deals with the current NSE Market Capitalization at KSh 2.69 Trillion.

    NSE INDICES

    The Benchmark NSE All Share Index(NASI) was down 0.22 points top close at 176.92, while the NSE 20 Share Index lost 5.48 points to stand at 1978.03. The NSE 25 Share Index was also down 4.58 points to close at 3880.85

    East African Cables was the day’s top price gainer, its share price rising 4.51% to close at KSh 1.39.

    East African Cables began 2021 with a share price of KSh 1.38 and has since gained 0.72% on that price valuation, ranking it 29th on the NSE in terms of year-to-date performance.

    CABL has accrued 6% over the past four-week period—17th best on NSE.

    Other top price gainers were Flame Tree Group which gained 3.76% on its price to close at KSh 1.38; Carbacid Investments, which was up 3.73% to KSh 12.50, East African Portland Cement which gained 3.64% to close at KSh 9.10, NSE whose share price was up 2.52% to KSh 8.94 and Crown Paints Kenya Limited which gained 2.51% to close at KSh 22.45.

    The worst performing counters were led by Nairobi Business Ventures, which lost 9.57% of its price to close at KSh 7.56, Centum which declined by 5.57% to KSh 15.25 as investors reacted to the firm’s full-year net loss of KSh 1.4 Billion.

    Stanlib Fahari Income-REIT followed Centum, its share price declining by 5.48% to KSh 6.56, Home Africa, whose prices depreciated by 5% to KSh 0.38, Eveready which shed 3.96% to close at KSh 0.97 and Sasini which declined by 3.76% to KSh 19.20.

    Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover with a volume of 3.18 Million, followed by Kenya Re-Insurance( 1.87 Million), Britam( 1.10 Million), ABSA( 642,000) and COOP( 468,600).

    The Derivatives market had 18 single futures contracts valued at KSh 442,870.00 compared to 20 single futures contracts with a total value of KSh 371,150.00 on Tuesday.
