    NSE turnover drops by 5% to KSh 598 Million

    NSE turnover drops by 5% to KSh 598 Million

    Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) declined slightly to KSh 598 Million this Wednesday down from KSh 632.7 Million posted on Tuesday.

    This was on volume of 18.59 Million shares and 692 deals compared to a volume of 20.79 Million shares traded in 813 deals this Tuesday.

    Safaricom was the prime mover with a volume of 9.49 Million shares followed by KCB (4.7 Million), Equity Group (2.37 Million), Bank of Kigali (857,300) and EABL (277,200).

    The top price gainer was Flame Tree Group whose share price was up 5.26% to KSh 1.40. It was followed by WPP ScanGroup which was up 3.17% to KSh 6.50, BAT which appreciated 2.68% to KSh 345.00 and Centum Investments Group which rose 2.29% to close at KSh 17.90. Nation Media Group ended as the 5th top price gainer with its share price up 1.16% to KSh 15.80.

    The day’s laggards were led by Car&General which was down 10% to KSh 22.50. It was followed by Sasini Plc which declined 10% to KSh 18.00. Uchumi fell 6.67% to trade at KSh 0.28 followed by TransCentury which lost 6.25% to settle at KSh 1.50 while Carbacid Investments was the 5th worst performer of the day with its price falling 5.75% to KSh 8.20.

    The NSE 20 Share Index was down 1.15 points to 1756.90 while the NSE 25 lost 3.75 points to settle at 3161.76. The benchmark NSE All Share Index was down slightly by 0.39 points to 140.19.
