    NSE Equity Turnover Declines 3% to KSh 523.4 Million

    NSE Equity Turnover Declines 3% to KSh 523.4 Million

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange( NSE) recorded a 3% drop in Equity Turnover to KSh 523. 4 Million on a volume of 11.9 Million shares that exchanged hands in 953 deals.

    Today’s data also shows a 44% decline in volume and a 24% drop in the number of transacted deals.

    The NSE has a present Market Capitalization of KSh 2.74 Trillion.

    NSE top gainers and losers

    This Wednesday, the top price gainer at the NSE was BK Group, with 9.26% share price appreciation closing at KSh 35.40 per share, followed by Olympia Capital Holdings, which was up 8.91% to close at KSh 2.20.

    Sanlam Kenya appreciated by 6.94% to KSh 11.55, TPS Eastern Africa Serena was up 6.41% to KSh 14.95 and Flame Tree Group which was up 6.06% to KSh 1.40.

    BK Group Plc began the year with a share price of KSh 20.50 and has since gained 72.7% on that price valuation, ranking it first on the NSE in terms of year-to-date performance.

    BKG stock has accrued 26% over the past four-week period alone—best on the Nairobi bourse.

    Liberty Kenya Holdings led the worst performers, which declined by 9.7% to close at KSh 8.38 per share.

    Liberty was followed by Nairobi Business Ventures, which declined by 4.52% to KSh 5.92, Stanbic Holdings, which was down 4.18% to KSh 86.00, Nairobi Securities Exchange which lost 3.19% of its share price to close at KSh 8.50 and Stanlib Fahari Income-REIT, which declined by 2.87% to KSh 6.76.

    Safaricom Plc was the prime mover with a volume of 7.16 million traded shares, followed by KCB Group (1.03million), Equity Group Holdings (903,800), Uchumi Supermarket (568,300) and EABL( 358,400).

    The NSE All-Share Index was up 0.03 points to close at 180.56, while the NSE 20 Share Index was down 12.77 points to close at 1962.25. The NSE 25 share Index was also down 4.78 points to stand at 3934.24.

    Activity in the secondary bonds market was up with a turnover of KSh 5,985, 300,000 in 70 deals today compared to yesterday’s KSh 4,976, 150,000 from 94 deals.

    There was low activity in the derivatives market, which recorded 5 contracts worth KSh 226,040 from 19 contracts worth KSh 849,830.00 transacted this Tuesday.
