    NSE Turnover Declines by 69% to KSh 211.9 Million

    NSE Turnover Declines by 69% to KSh 211.9 Million

    Equity turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) declined to KSh 212 Million when trading closed today. This is a 69% decline from KSh 676 Million posted on Wednesday.

    The NSE 20 share Index lost 3.00 points to close at 1759.28 while the All Share Index NASI was up 2.58 points to settle at 129.59. The NSE 25 Share Index rose by 12.34 points to stand at 2968.11.

    Foreign investors assumed a net buying position, accounting for 47.09% of total sales and 56.08% of total purchases.

    The top trader was Diamond Trust Bank Group, whose share price went up by 6.56% to KSh 69.00 while the biggest loser was East African Cables whose share price declined by 8.97% to KSh 2.03 from KSh 2.23 previously.

    The Banking sector dominated activity at the NSE, accounting for 59.38 % of the day’s traded value.

    The most active counter in this segment was Equity Group which transacted 2.9 Million shares worth KSh 88 Million at between KSh 29.50 and KSh 31.80.

    NewGold ETF moved 5,000 units valued at KSh 1.8Million and closed at KSh 2,040.00.

    The bonds market had deals worth KSh 1.9 Billion transacted.
