Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) recorded a significant increase in equity turnover to KSh 1.1 Billion from the previous KSh 510.6 Million.
The number of shares traded also increased to 30.8 Million when trading ended at the bourse this Thursday compared to 13.2 Million shares at the end of the previous trading session.
The NSE All Share Index was up 0.69 points to close at 166.62 while the NSE 20 Share Index gained 8.60 points to end the day at 1901.48. The NSE 25 Share Index was up 12.18 points to close at 3756.02
NSE Winners and Losers
BOC Kenya was the top gainer with its share price gaining 9.93% to KSh 77.50 followed by Eveready E.Africa which was up 8.89% to KSh 0.98; Olympia Capital which gained 5.53% to KSh 2.10; TPSE Serena which rose by 5.50% to KSh 15.35 and East African Cables which gained 5.31% to KSh 1.19.
The worst performers were led by Williamson Tea which declined by 3.52% to KSh 130.25 followed by Home Afrika which lost 2.63% to KSh 0.37; TransCentury which declined by 2.31% to KSh 1.27; Bank of Kigali which declined by 2.17% to KSh 29.35 and Kenya Re-insurance which lost 1.76% to end the day at KSh 2.23.
The prime movers were Safaricom( 20.2 Million shares), KCB(3.28 Million), Coop( 2.77 Million), Equity( 1.65 Million) and KPLC( 1.13 Million)
The secondary bonds market had a turnover of KSh 1.5 Billion from 53 deals compared to a turnover of KSh 1.2 Billion from 120 deals at the previous trading session.
The Derivatives market had 13 contracts worth KSh 260,290 concluded compared to 22 contracts worth KSh 865,050 at the previous trading session.
