    NSE Weekly Turnover Rises 5% to KSh 2.1 Billion

    NSE Weekly Turnover Rises 5% to KSh 2.1 Billion

    NSE weekly turnover stood at KSh2.1billion on 87.5M shares, against KSh2billion on 82.97M shares posted the previous week, an increase of 5%. The Derivatives Market at the NSE closed this week with 224 contracts valued at KSh5.5M.

    The NSE 20 share index was down 49.78 points during this week to close at 1626.81. All Share Index (NASI) shed 8.08 points to settle at 121.81 while the NSE 25 Share lost 167.03 during this week points to settle at 2876.34.

    NSE TOP GAINER AND LOSER DURING THE WEEK

    The Week’s top price gainer was Sameer, whose shares rose by 11.95% from KSh 2.93 to KSh 3.28 when trading ended this week. The top losing counter at the bourse during the week was Express Kenya, which declined by 12.28% to KSh 3.00 from KSh 3.42 the prior week.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh 278M transacted, which accounted for 13.09% of the week’s traded value. KCB Group declined by 2.82% to KSh.37.90, down from KSh.39.00 registered the previous week with shares worth KSh135M transacted.
    Equity Group Holdings was down 7.65% to KSh 39.85 and moved 2.2M shares valued at KSh.92M. Standard Chartered Bank moved 138,000 shares valued at KSh.17M and closed this week at KSh123.75.

    Safaricom declined by 8.99% to KSh.24.30 at the end of this week, down from KSh 24.30 registered the previous week, with shares worth KSh 1.6billion transacted; this represented 76.57% of this week’s traded value.

    The Bond Market registered improved activity with bonds worth KSh.17.8 billion transacted compared to KSh 12.6billion reported the previous week.

    The Manufacturing & Allied Sector had shares worth Kes.177.8M transacted, representing 8.37% of this week’s traded value. E.A Breweries was down 6.39% to KSh.124.50 and moved 1.3M shares valued at KSh166M. B.A.T moved 24,000 shares valued at KSh10.5M and closed this week at KSh 428.75.

    The Energy & Petroleum Sector had shares worth KSh19M transacted, representing 0.91% of this week’s traded value.

    Kenya Power & Lighting closed this week 1.35% lower to KSh1.46 on a volume of 10M shares valued at KSh.14.7M. Umeme Limited moved 332,000 shares valued at KSh.2.66M and closed this week at KSh 8.00.
