All share indices fell with the NSE 20 Share index closing the day at 1,729.46 a decline of 0.52 % from the previous 1,738.43.
The NSE 25 Share index lost 6.36 points to 2,971. The NSE All-Share Index(NASI) lost 0.89 points to 130.51 from Monday’s 131.40.
Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) stood at KSh 347.3 Million at the close of trading today, comprising of 17.44 Million shares transacted in 943 deals.
This is compared to a turnover of KSh 266 Million realised at the bourse in Monday’s trading session.
Safaricom maintained its dominance of NSE activity by moving a total of 5.92 Million shares. It was followed by KCB(2.98 Million), Coop Bank( 2.81 Million), KPLC(2.26 Million) and KenGen( 1.45 Million).
The top gainer was Standard Group, whose share price appreciated 9.85% to KSh 22.30. It was followed by Sasini whose share price rose 9.71% to KSh 18.65. Kenya Re shares rose 8.84% to KSh 2.34 while UMME share price rose 8.70% to KSh 7.50 with Home Africa share price increasing to 44 cents, an increase of 7.32%.
Bank of Kigali was the biggest loser at the NSE today with its share price declining 5.94% to KSh 15.05. Other losing stocks included Flame Tree Group, WPP ScanGroup, Centum and Bamburi Cement.
Williamson Tea closed its books to enable payment of KSh 20 dividend per share. Its share price closed at KSh 144.00 compared to KSh 143.73, an increase of 0.17% with 5,000 shares traded.
