    NSE Records a 63% Decline in Daily Equity Turnover to Kes 358 Million

    The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) recorded a 63% decline in turnover during today’s trading session from Kes 979 million posted during yesterday’s trading session to Kes 358 million recorded during Wednesday’s trading session.

    The shares traded during today’s trading session also declined to 10 million compared to 16 million shares traded yesterday.

    The NSE All Share Index shed 2.52 points to close at 15792. The NSE 25 Share Index lost 36.37 points ending the day at 3595.34. Moreover, the NSE 20 Share Index also declined 6.30 points to settle at 1884.29.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth Kes.151M transacted which accounted for 42.15% of the day’s traded value. Equity Group Holdings actively moved 1.4M shares valued at Kes.71.9M at between Kes.50.50 and Kes.51.50. Stanbic Holdings up 1.53% to Kes.99.50 moved 523,000 shares valued at Kes.52M. KCB Group moved 313,000 shares valued at Kes.13.9M and closed at Kes.44.40.

    NSE Gainers and Losers

    HF Group led the gainers during today’s trading session gaining 6.97% to close at kes 3.53 per share, followed by Home Afrika which was up 5.71% to kes 0.37 per share, Car and General which rose 4.78% to kes 60.25 which was followed closely by Eveready East Africa which was up 4.35% closing at kes 0.96 per share.

    Transcentury Plc came out last declining 3.48% per share to close at 1.11, followed by TP serena which was down 2.72% to kes 12.50, Safaricom plc which lost 2.64% to Kes 35.10, followed by I&M which lost 2.15% to close at kes 20.50 per share.

    Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover with 5.5M shares valued at Kes.194.7M at between Kes.34.90 and Kes.36.05; this represented 54.36% of the day’s traded value.


    The Bond market had bonds worth Kes.4.4Bn transacted.
