    NSE Daily Equity Turnover falls 63% to KSh 111M

    NSE Daily Equity Turnover falls 63% to KSh 111M

    Nairobi Securities Exchange(NSE) Daily Equity Turnover fell to KSh 111 Million from KSh 300 Million the previous session, a decline of 63%. At the same time, the volume of shares traded stood at 5.5 Million from 8.6 Million shares posted yesterday.

    The Derivatives Market registered activity in the KCB Single Stock Futures contract expiring on 16th June 2022, trading four contracts valued at KSh 178,000 at a price of KSh 44.60. This is against a closing price of KSh44.05 posted by KCB Group in the spot market.

    Umeme was the day’s top price gainer, its share price up 7.74% to KSh 6.96, followed by Nation Media Group, which rose 6.20% to KSh 19.70; Diamond Trust Bank, which edged up 2.69% to KSh 57.25, NSE which climbed 2.62% to KSh 7.84 and WPPScanGroup which rose 2.56% to KSh 4.00

    The worst performers were led by Kenya Power which lost 5.52% to KSh 1.37, followed by E. A Cables, which fell 4.31% to KSh 1.11; Olympia Capital which declined 3.77% to KSh 2.04; I&M Holdings, which lost 3.34% to KSh 20.25 and Williamson Tea which declined by 3.33% to KSh 130.50 when trading ended at the bourse this Tuesday.

    The Banking Sector had shares worth KSh35Million transacted, which accounted for 31.62% of the day’s traded value.

    KCB Group moved 313,000 shares valued at KSh 13.7Million between KSh43.95 and KSh44.45.

    Equity Group Holdings moved 111,000 shares valued at KSh 5.67Million and closed at KSh 51.00. ABSA Bank Kenya remained unchanged at KSh12.50 moved 305,000 shares valued at KSh 3.8Million. Standard Chartered Bank was up 1.23% to KSh 143.75 moved 25,000 shares valued at KSh 3.7Million.

    Safaricom was the day’s main feature, with 1.7Million shares valued at KSh 62Million changing hands at KSh35.20 and KSh 35.50; this represented 56.03% of the day’s traded value.

    The Bonds Market At the NSE posted a turnover of KSh 2.5 Billion from 93 deals compared to a turnover of KSh 2.4 Billion in 120 deals at the end of the previous session.
